I’ve never really been one of this “productivity hacks” types of people…
I find that most of the time, these so-called hacks actually slow me down and make my life worse.
Like, this image sums me up perfectly…

But I finally found one that I use every day… and I think it is absolutely phenomenal if you're trying to get more done
Because I’ve played around with dictation tools before… from the native Mac desktop one to the built-in Google Docs tool…
But they never quite get it right…
Words are misspelled, or they insert weird punctuation where it’s not needed.
So I’ve stuck to good ol’ typing for 25 years…
I actually saw some ads for it and wrote it off as just another voice tool that probably doesn’t work quite like I want it too…
But something far more intelligent than me swears by it so I gave it a go, and oh my goodness…
I use it every day now.
It’s not perfect, and the iOS app is still janky - but the desktop version is incredible
There’s no announcing latency when you first load it, I just hold down a key on the keyboard and start talking. And it autocorrects a bunch of my errors with much better accuracy than other dictation tools I’ve tried before.
(There’s even a vibecoding settings, so it knows when you’re talking to an LLM and adjusts your text accordingly)
And bear in mind, I probably type 2,000-3,000 words a day on the low end… so being able to speak a lot of those words saves at least an hour a day of typing, if not two.
So I am fully in on Wispr Flow… and if you spend a lot of your day typing, then I recommend you try it out as well.
It’s $12/month for the paid version (that’s 2 litres of diesel for my UK readers hehehe)
So there’s my shameless plug for the year done.
Back to talking to my laptop all day like I’m Tony Stark with Ivy asking me who I’m speaking to…
