I’m flying to Tampa today… gearing up for our second Investormania event.
An event that brings together investors from all over the world.
Focused on what unites us… rather than what divides us.
Because if you spend enough time online, you’d be forgiven for thinking we’re all at each other’s throats and a societal collapse is just around the corner.
And I get it, because online… bad news sells.
Just take a look at this one YouTube channel for instance.
For those of you keeping score - if this person is to be believed then we are on the brink of...
A stock market collapse...
A housing crisis...
Deflation...
A fiat money debasement...
And mass unemployment to boot.
And all of these things are indicative of one major factor above all else
Fear as a business model
It's not a particularly new idea...
The skincare industry puts fear into women that they're no longer beautiful...
The sports car industry puts fear into men that they're no longer cool...
And a HUGE portion of the financial publishing industry thrives on fear based marketing.
I hate it.
So while my generally optimistic view on the markets and great companies might not get as many immediate customers... it does something far more valuable.
It gives you a taste of who I really am!
Because I genuinely am optimistic about the future. I think AI and other innovations will have a net positive effect on society.
Are there downsides? Of course. There are downsides to literally every technological advancement.
But that doesn't mean we should stop.
And I'm also not going to lie to you every day about an "imminent collapse" or take statistics out of context just to sell a few more books.
After all... my name doesn't rhyme with Bobert Miyosaki
Because here's the truth that most investing commentators won't tell you.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach
And it actually helps to seek out people who disagree with your ideas… because being challenged on an intellectual level is what helps you develop them.
That’s precisely why we’ve structred Investormania the way we have… because I want people from all walks of life to come together… have preconceived ideas challenged… and ultimately see that we have a lot more in common than you’d think.
Oliver
