Last Friday, tech stocks lost 3% in a single session and finished the week down 7.7%.
The VIX jumped above 20 for the first time since June…
And my own tech heavy long-term portfolio is now down so much that it’s all the way back to… where it was a month ago.
So no, I’m not pushing the panic button just yet…
But if your portfolio is stacked with the names everyone’s been chasing for the last two years, you felt it this week.
And I learned this the hard way.
Back in March 2020 I was stranded in Hanoi, Vietnam…
My previous business had basically been shuttered overnight… and my portfolio was down 20% across the board.
But it’s what I did after that which changed everything for me…
I used some of my spare capital to sell puts on stable, boring companies.
And the next month I managed to make just over $1,500 in premiums…
Nothing life changing… but enough to steady the ship.
And that’s what I’ve done ever since.
And after a week like this one… when the VIX climbs… the premiums are nicely elevated … and the Wheel Trader is the one getting paid.
I won’t pretend it’s risk-free. If a stock falls hard, I still have to buy it at the price I agreed. So I only sell puts on businesses I’d be glad to own anyway, and I never risk more than 4% of my account on a single trade.
Those rules got tested in 2022, when the S&P 500 fell about 19%. My account finished that year up 8.0%.
It returned 33.8% in 2023, 36.5% in 2024 and 30.3% in 2025.
And none of those years required me to guess which chipmaker would win the AI race.
The high-flyers will probably have another great month at some point. They usually do… right before the next week like this one.
Which is why Options Cashflow Accelerator students take the boring path and keep stacking up win after win…
So if it’s income you’re after - this is the best way I know of…
