Wowzas.

A user on Reddit turned $300,000 into $3,000,000 last year.

Insane results…

They then proceeded to reverse course and send $3,000,000 back to $50,000 in a matter of weeks.

And as every person’s life has value… even if it’s to be used as a bad example… he’s done us a favor and documented the entire thing trade by trade…

So after catching the April 2025 market bottom with some well-timed stock picks, this guy found himself sitting on $3 million across two accounts.

Life-changing money.

For the vast majority of you, that’s never-work-again-if-you-don't-want-to money.

Then, like a lottery winner discovering crack cocaine… this gentlemen discovers 0DTE options on SPY.

For the unaware, 0DTE stands for zero days to expiration.

These are options contracts that are bought and sold within a single trading day, so they expire at the close of the market.

If you win, you can double or triple your money in hours. If you lose, the entire stake goes to zero.

And because these close on the same day, there’s very little margin for error.

You don’t get the luxury of a week-long recovery… just instant, binary outcomes

Let me be clear, this is not investing - it’s a casino that opens at 9:30am and closes at 4pm.

For his first foray into the casino… this gentlemen, who goes by the username “Chasmicvoid” placed a single SPY call position of 450 contracts at $8.22 each, representing $369,900 of his account.

The trade went against him, and he closed out for a $93,563 loss.

Undettered by his failures, he kept going…

And he kept losing…

To the point where he bled all the way down to $50,000 across both accounts.

In his own words

"My retirement and life money are gone"

What kills me is the part he wrote after that…

"Did you know it only takes 95 trades of compounding 5% and I can make everything back in a year?"

I've seen this exact thought pattern before…

It's the math that sounds logical at 2am when you're in complete denial about the situation and it's also how people lose the $50,000 they have left.

The worst part?

This person had already won. He turned a $300k account turning into $3 million in a year!

He had the financial freedom he said he wanted, he’d won the game but just didn't know to stop playing.

A real shame, but hopefully his failures will at least deter some of you reading from doing the same
